The source of carpet comes from the book Orient Star - A Carpet Collection, E. Heinrich Kirchheim, Hali Publications Ltd, 1993 nr.63. This is a lattice design 17th-century carpet from Khorasan, Eastern Persia. Dr. Friedrich Spuhler was formerly Curator of Islamic Art in Berlin-Dahlem. In 1978 he became an advisor to the Farah-Diba Foundation in Teheran and set up the first Persian Carpet Museum. In 1985 he opened a gallery of antique Persian and Turkish carpets, textiles, and Islamic works of art. His Publications include "Islamic Carpets and Textiles in the Keir Collection," 1978; "Denmark's Coronation Carpets," 1987; and a catalog of the "Oriental Star" collection, 1993. The carpet is mentioned by him in the Orient Star Collection. The most appropriate colors to match the original is used for this carpet.
