The source of the rug comes from the book Antique Rugs of Kurdistan A Historical Legacy of Woven Art, James D. Burns, 2002 nr.36 This was an exclusive example of offset rows of ascending flowers design rug c.1800s from Garrus, Eastern Kurdistan area. This type of rug has been called "Joshagan" in the past although in design, heavy all-wool construction, wool quality, and structure this example is clearly one of Kurdish work. The most appropriate colors to match the original is used for this rug.
